Building Scalable Platforms: A Product-Centric Approach
How do you evolve from a traditional DevOps culture to a mature platform engineering approach? In this talk we'll explore the Platform Maturity Model and how JYSK has structured our Platform Teams around products. We'll also explore the shift from SRO to SRE, focusing on observability as an extensible product with automation using IaC and driving developer value at scale.

OpenTelemetry Workshop with New Relic: Instrument your application with OpenTelemetry - Traces, Metrics, Logs.
OpenTelemetry is a CNCF incubating project formed through a merger of the OpenTracing and OpenCensus projects. OpenTelemetry will soon be the de-facto industry standard for instrumenting your applications and services.
In this hand-on workshop, we will first of all explain what “instrumenting” an application actually means. This seems to be a buzzword and I will shed some light into this concept. We will then do the actual implementation live in the workshop in a step-by-step approach and visualize the results in a plain terminal window and the New Relic observability platform as our telemetry backend.
We will look into our New Relic Kubernetes OpenTelemetry integration. This integration provides full K8s observability including metrics, events and logs. It comes with an easy guided installation and is compatible with all the k8s experiences including:
- K8s navigator
- K8s-APM
- K8s entities
The workshop will also focus on showcasing the implementation in a couple of different programming languages including Java, .NET and others. We will also explore the AWS managed Lambda layer for OpenTelemetry which provides a plug and play user experience by automatically instrumenting a Lambda function.
Objectives:
- Understand where OpenTelemetry evolved from as an open standard
- How it can be applied in your application and use cases
- Have deployed OpenTelemetry instrumentation in an OpenTelemetry Demo application"
